My Aaron Boone Collection
Duration: 8:28Source: YouTube
Here is my Aaron Boone baseball card collection. Along with these cards I have a few different autographed jerseys, a Reds, Indians and Yankees one. And a game used bat. And an autographed Althletics/Indians program from 6/6/6. I also have a foul ball that I caught at an Indians/White Sox game in 2005 in Chicago. Aaron Boone had one of the greatest moments in Major League Baseball history in 2003. He started out the 2003 season with the Cincinnati Reds, the team he had played his entire career with up until that point. But half way through the season he was traded to the New York Yankees due to their needs at third base. Aaron struggled throughout his entire stay with New York, and then his moment in history came. It was the 2003 American League Championship Series. Game 7 against the Red Sox. His brother Bret calling the action in the FOX booth with Joe Buck. Bottom of the eleventh inning with knuckle baller Tim Wakefield fresh out of the bullpen to start off the inning. First pitch of the bottom of the eleventh from Wakefield, Aaron Boone blasted a home run into the left field seats vaulting the New York Yankees to the World Series and becoming a legend in the city of New York for all of eternity. It was a glorious sight to witness, and literally is the baseball highlight of all highlights in my opinion.Shortly after the Yankees lost the World Series to the Florida Marlins, Aaron had a freak accident while playing a game of basketball. He blew out his knee. The Yankees, now needing more help at third base, swooped in on the Red Sox attempts at obtaining Alex Rodriguez, and traded super star Alfonso Soriano to the Texas Rangers for the best player in all of MLB to play the hot corner. So I look at it this way. If Aaron Boone never comes over to New York from the Reds, then blows out his knee in the off season, one of my favorite players of all time may have never been a New York Yankee. So I guess we have Aaron Boone to thank for Alex Rodriguez being a New York Yankee!!!
