SCRIPT: Los Angeles social service agencies are reportedly concerned about the safety and welfare of Britney's kids. Released court documents in the bitter custody battle between Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline reveal that the agency is investigating numerous child abuse and neglect referrals concerning the children. Meanwhile, Britney has been seen around town with a new guy some say is her latest boyfriend. So far the mystery date has no name. A Dublin court has dropped public order charges against Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The 30-year-old star was arrested for drunken, threatening and abusive behavior at the Dublin airport back on November 18. Actor Dennis Quaid and his wife have filed a negligence lawsuit against the makers of a blood thinner given to his newborn twins in an accidental massive overdose last month. The suit accuses Baxter Healthcare of failing to put clear distinguishing labels on the drug. The twins are said to be back home and doing fine. The awards season has kicked off with "No Country for Old Men" by Joel and Ethan Coen being named best film of 2007 by the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. In the first major award of the Oscar season, George Clooney took home the best actor honor for "Michael Clayton." The awards can be an indicator of what to expect for the Academy Awards, the top honors of the film business, which will be presented in February. The creators of the hit film "Borat" are being sued again, this time by a driving instructor seen in the comedy admonishing the fake Kazakh reporter for yelling insults at other drivers. The driving instructor says he was duped into participating in the film. British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is among those named in the suit. British pop star Robbie Williams has apologized to former manager Nigel Martin-Smith and paid unspecified legal damages over song lyrics that suggested Smith had stolen funds from the band. Williams says he sorry. Lastly, Josh Groban led the anemic U.S. pop album charts for a second week. The Los Angeles tenor's holiday-themed "Noel" sold 539,000 copies, a 33% increase in sales from the previous week. John Russell reports.
