Nathaniel Ayers' story, first heard in Steve Lopez's LA Times column, has inspired a book ["The Soloist"] and a movie with Jamie Foxx playing Ayers and Robert Downey, Jr. playing Lopez due out in Nov. Cater Lee reports.
