The Montreal Canadiens continued their season long domination of the Boston Bruins with a four to one victory in the first game of their playoff series. Montreal opened the game with a pair of goals from a pair of brothers. Sergei and Andrei Kostitsyn scored just 1:28 apart in the early minutes of the first period. The Bruins attempted to let air from the Canadiens sails by scoring a goal of their own from Shane Hnidy, and the first period ended with the Bruins down by a goal. The Canadiens struck again in the second period with a nifty score by former Bruin Brian Smolinski. The Bruins could muster no offense in the middle frame and the second period ended with the Canadiens up by two. In the third period, the Canadiens continued to take the game to the Bruins, out hitting them and out shooting them. The Bruins spent the third period killing penalties, and couldn't manage any offense, while the Canadiens found a way to put one more in the net when Tom Kostopoulos scored to ice the win for the Canadiens, 4-1.
