The Des Moines Register Makes Cuts

The Des Moines Register is cutting back 26 positions and eliminating 11 open positions that would not be filled. The cuts are encouraged by parent company Gannett. Some well known names are among those who will be leaving the Des Moines Register. Announcement made on Tuesday stated that longtime editor Jerry Perkins and reporter Ken Fuson took buyout offers. Both individuals had had spent more than 25 years with the company. Jane Norman located in the Washington D.C. bureau for 20 years has been laid off and will receive a severance package. www.EmploymentCrossing.com
