Box office blockbusters - Oscar winners While McCartney was serenading the astronauts, the premiere of the final episode of Star Wars [Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith" kicked off at the Cannes Film Festival. With Darth Vader and Storm Troopers guarding the red carpet, director George Lucas, actress Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson made their way into the Palais for what seemed to be a magical night. Other box office hits include "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" - which is the fourth and darkest film to date - and King Kong, directed by Peter Jackson. Jackson, who won an Oscar for the sci-fi epic, "Lord of the Rings", returns to the big screen, bringing to life a character which first inspired him to become a film-maker at the impressionable age of nine. Although not a box office hit - yet - "Brokeback Mountain", the story of two gay cowboys in Wyoming, has caught the attention of Hollywood. After winning the top prize at the Venice Film Festival, director Ang Lee's movie has now been nominated for a Golden Globe - a strong indicator as how the Oscars might shape up. Speaking of the Oscars, veteran actor and film director, Clint Eastwood's film, "Million Dollar Baby" was the recipient of four Oscars including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Hilary Swank) and Best Supporting Actor (Morgan Freeman). Jamie Foxx received an Oscar for Best Actor for his charismatic portrayal of Ray Charles in the film simply entitled, "Ray" and Cate Blanchett received Best Supporting Actress for her role in Martin Scorsese's film, "The Aviator" starring Leonardo DiCaprio. While the Oscar honour the best in films, the Razzies are quite the opposite. Known for their tongue-and-cheek awards, the Razzies honor the very worst in cinema and this year, it went to none other than Oscar winner Halle Berry for her performance in "Catwoman." To everyone's surprise, she attended the ceremony and upon receiving the award, starting crying - mimicking her tearful acceptance when she won an Oscar for her performance in "Monster's Ball". Another box office favourite was the remake of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" starring Johnny Depp which also attracted Britney Spears and husband, Kevin Federline to the Los Angeles premiere. Spears, visibly pregnant at the premiere, gave birth to a son, Sean Preston on September 14, 2005.
