Volunteer Vacations: Rebuilding New Orleans
Duration: 2:13Source: YouTube
For Americans, leisure isn't just a time to relax; it can also be a time to come to the aid of others. And many Americans feel a special responsibility to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Volunteers from around the country have come to New Orleans during their holidays to help Habitat for Humanity rebuild houses lost during the hurricane. Thanks to the support of residents such as musician Harry Connick Jr., the organization hopes to build more than 250 homes along the Gulf Coast in 2008.
