Ferrari fix focus on 2008... China's National Day brings a racing treat in Hong Kong... And canine and human athletes... at the Incredible Dog Challenge. F1 FERRARI Ferrari are trying to balance their resources with two races of the Formula One season remaining. With a 17-point gap to make up on world championship leader Lewis Hamilton, Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen still harbours faint title ambitions. But speaking in Milan this week, Head of Aerodynamics John Iley indicated that next year's car is now dominating the attention of Ferrari's engineers. SOUNDBITE (English) "In 2004, we were quite comfortable in our (F1 world) championship position - and we stopped out development on the current (2004) car earlier than we would have done normally. Unfortunately, in 2005, it was not so good so we did the same process - but for different reasons. This year, we're in championship fight so, therefore, we have been pushing for the maximum performance for as long as we can - but there is a moment where we have to transfer our commitment to the following year's car." SUPER CAPTION: John Iley, Ferrari Head of Aerodynamics China's spectacular Shanghai circuit provides the setting for the penultimate race of the season this weekend. Ferrari, it seems, will need more than a little luck to stop Hamilton becoming the first man to win the world drivers' title in his debut F1 year. RACING HONG KONG There was plenty of entertainment for a packed house at Hong Kong's Sha Tin racecourse on a rare Monday card to celebrate Chinese National Day. The feature National Day Cup race was dominated almost from the start by the outsider, Tiber. Coming out of gate 13, the 32-1 shot, with local jockey Howard Cheng aboard, cut across the field and quickly established himself at the front alongside another early leader, Egyptian Ra. Going into the final seven furlongs, Cheng and Tiber broke away with 100 metres to go leaving a fading Egyptian Ra on the rail. The seven-year-old gelding, formerly trained in England by John Gosden, held off the fast-finishing pre-race favourite Pocket Money and the Duke to take victory. It was the fourth time in five National Day Cup starts that Cheng had won the feature race and gave trainer John Moore the first of his two wins on the day. The five furlong Sha Tin Sprint went according to the form book with French ace Gerald Mosse barely having to move a muscle on board favourite Sacred Kingdom. The Ricky Yiu-trained three-year-old suffered his first defeat in May after beginning his career with five victories, but returned to the winner's enclosure in style by one-and-a-half lengths from Friendly Gains with Planet Ruler. BIZARRE DOGS Heptathlon world record holder Jackie Joyner-Kersee was at the 10th Incredible Dog Challenge to coach a fellow world record holder - albeit in a slightly different discipline. She was there to give Soaring Cindy a pep talk, or should that be 'pup' talk. Joyner-Kersee's personal best in the high jump is 1.86 metres, so she can still claim to be top dog over Cindy, whose world record stands at 1.68 metres. SOUNDBITE (English) "I'm coaching Cindy, the world record holder, in the high jump. She's going to be jumping over a replica of the St Louis arch and it's just exciting. I'm excited and I can't wait to give her tips on, to make her much better, because she's a greyhound. But she has all the power and I'm just glad to be here." SUPERCAPTION: Jackie Joyner-Kersee For all those canines getting a little hot under the collar, dog diving was the perfect antidote. The Jack Russell hurdle race always works the crowd into a frenzy and this year's race was no different. After a brief 'paws' at the start, the winner was Will. No fleas on him. The pole weave was another classic which separated the rottweilers from the poodles. In the final Teak edged out Pickle by a wet nose.   <저작권자(c)연합뉴스.무단전재-재배포금지> [Daily_Bulletin] Ferrari face up to 2008 challenge
