The 4th ranked Minot High boys Basketball team is busy preparing for the west region basketball tournament that kicks off Thursday in Bismarck. The Magicians come in as the 2nd seed and will meet up with Jamestown in opening round play. The Magicians swept their series with the Blue Jays this year, but the team knows it will need a solid effort not only on Thursday, but throughout the tournament. Gene Manson, MHS boys basketball coach:Anything can happen and generally weird things do happen in tournaments so thing is you prepare for one game at a time and take it that way. With Jamestown, we handled them pretty easily in Minot, down in Jamestown we struggled a little bit, I think we ended up winning by 18 but we know that they're very capable. They got an excellent player in Landon Rachel and we'll have our hands full trying to guard him. You know Bismarck's number one and they're playing at home which is a distinct advantage for anybody but I think she's wide open and anything can happen in this WDA. Ryne Hornecker, senior:You know you got to get for sure two solid games to make it to the state tournaement. We don't want to do that. We want to go in with three solid games and hopefully win two for sure but we want to win all three and go to the state tournament with a lot of confidence. Andrew Crosby, junior:Everyone's played well this year. Everyone's had their highs and lows so we're just gonna have to come out and play like we have been.
