On Friday, April 27, 2007 students at the Deer River High School participated in a special event known as the X-Out. During each hour of the day a "Grim Reaper" went to various classrooms and picked out an individual to be X'd out. That student had their face painted white with an X painted over it. The student then returned to their class but did not speak or respond to anyone, friends or teachers for the remainder of the day. X'd OUT students represented students lost to car accidents, violence, etc. on Prom night. Statistically, prom night is the #1 most dangerous night of the year for high school students across the country. We want all of our students to be safe and back in school on Monday morning following the Prom. Students are encourage to attend Post-Prom which will be held at Bemidji State University. Following the prom all signed up are invited to ride charter busses to Bemidji to the Bemidji State Recreation Center for the Post Prom Party. At the Rec. Center will be Dave's Pizza, Subway Subs, and other goodies to enjoy. A mechanical bull, G-Force, Virtual Baseball, from Games Galore of Fargo, Volleyball, Raquetball, Baseketball, Wall Climbing, Swimming, and much more will be the entertainment for all to enjoy. We will return to Deer River at around 6:00am. Prom night is statistically the most dangerous night of the year for High School students across the United States. Deer River High School has provided safe, chemical free, chaperoned post prom parties for over 20 years.
