WINOOSKI A Jeep Rodeo crashed into a home on Malletts Bay Avenue at noon today, extensively damaging the home and injuring the driver. The house at 160 Malletts Bay Avenue faces West Spring Street. The Jeep headed down the hill on West Spring Street, crossed Malletts Bay Avenue and struck a concrete and brick pillar meant to protect the house. The SUV became airborne and plowed through the picture window and into the living room of the home owned by Allen Gratton. Gratton and his wife "were in the bathroom" when the accident occurred and were not injured. The woman driving the Jeep was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, where she was being evaluated early Tuesday afternoon. The car was removed from the house at 1:15 p.m. and a building inspector was studying the structural integrity of the damaged home. Police suspect driver to be on a "controlled substance" at time of crash.
