감각! 창조! 쿨(Cool)! 힙(Hip)! 즐거운 음악의 대명사,The Black Eyed Peas 미국 남부에서 재배되는 콩 종류인 BEP(Black Eyed Peas) 는 흔히 소울푸드(Soul Food) 로 불리웠는데 자신들의 음악적 뿌리 또한 소울(Soul) 뮤직이라는 사실에서 자신들의 팀이름을 블랙아이드피스(Black Eyed Peas) 라 지은 이 팀은 고교 동창 이었던 윌.아이.엠(will.I.am)과 애플딥(Apl. De Ap) 두친구의 의기투합에서 시작하였다.굉장히 화려한 댄스로 무대를 장학하는 이들의 현재 모습은 이들이 초기 트라이벌 네이션(Tribal Nation)이라는 브레이크댄싱 팀에서 함께 활동했었단 사실에서 그 이유를 찾을수 있고 이후 애트반 클란(AtbanKlann) 이란 자신들만의 팀을 만들어 활동을 시작했다.
