The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual celebration marking the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, DC in 1912. As the national museum of Asian art for the United States, the Freer and Sackler Galleries join in this celebration with exhibitions and events exploring Japanese art and culture.
