italian disqualified from tour down under. and germany into euro 2008 semi-final. cycling australia team high road's andre greipel claimed his second stage win after an action packed 134-kilometre fourth stage of the tour down under on friday. the german edged out tour leader, australia's mark renshaw of the credit agricole team, and spaniard jose rojas of caisse d'epargne in a sprint finish in strathalbyn. greipel's victory, which carried a ten second bonus, has moved him up to second overall, four seconds behind renshaw, with queensland's allan davis sitting third at seven seconds. saunier duval's arkaitz duran won the 'south australia - a brilliant blend' king of the mountain sprint 19 kilometres after the start. there were two sa lotteries sprints contested. allan davis collected the three seconds bonus ahead of caisse d'epargne rider luis sanchez and philippe gilbert at the 47.9-kilometre mark in mount torrens. but renshaw claimed second place behind german jan fortser at the next sprint at woodside to move back in front. the final straight, though, was where the real drama unfolded. dutch rabobank rider mathew hayman came unseated and suffered a broken collarbone. elia rigotto was later disqualified from the tour for causing the accident, with officials accusing the italian of a headbutt. hayman, a former commonwealth games gold medallist, has accepted his apology and is not expected to face a long lay off. handball norway the equation was simple for both germany and sweden as they met in the fifth and final group ii match for each side at the euro 2008 handball tournament in norway on thursday. victory or a draw would be enough for the swedes to join group winners france in the semi-finals, but only a win would suffice for the men in black. sweden edged a tightly contested first half, in which neither team went ahead by more than two goals. from 18-16 down at the break, germany went back into the ascendency... only for sweden to nose ahead again through jan lennartsson. the match appeared to be heading sweden's way when dan beutler saved markus baur's penalty 11 minutes from the end. but the germans suddenly switched on the pressure and in a six-minute spell they turned a one-goal deficit into a three-goal advantage. sweden still had time to grab the draw they needed, but johannes bitter's penalty save from henrik lundstrom effectively ended their challenge. baur made the final score 31-29 to germany to set up a semi-final clash with denmark on saturday. despite exiting the competition, sweden achieved their main objective in trondheim, namely olympic qualification, by virtue of a better goal margin than hungary.
