The line-up for the 30th Annual Playboy Jazz festival was announced at a press event held at the world famous Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, and boasts a headlining performance of Herbie Hancock and includes comedian Bill Cosby as emcee of the event. Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Magazine, was in attendance at the event, as were several musicians slated to perform at the two day festival, held on June 14th and 15th at the Hollywood Bowl Ampitheater. Cosby, who has hosted the event since 1995, was on hand to share his fondest memories of the jazz festival, and recalled when he was first asked to emcee it. "Well, we're very close friends, George Wayne, Hugh Hefner, Dick Rozenzweig and I, and they established this Playboy Jazz Festival at the bowl, and I wasn't there, but they came to me, and they said would you love to be the emcee, and for me to sit in the chair onstage, about twelve feet away from Dexter Gordon, or Miles Davis, or Oscar Peterson, I'm not saying anything, but they pay me and I'm laughing," says Cosby. Herbie Hancock, whose latest album, "River: the Joni Letters" recently won the coveted Grammy award for album of the year this year, will be headlining the festival, performing on the second day at the event. He will be playing with several acclaimed musicians, bassist David Holland, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, saxophonist Chris Potter, and guitarist Lionel Loueke.
