The 8.0 magnitude tremor, which was focused in China's Sichuan Province, is estimated to have killed at least 50000 people — and that toll is expected to rise dramatically as rescue teams continue to reach the most affected areas. In cities near the earthquake's epicenter, thousands are buried under the rubble of collapsed buildings. Many people are still missing. The Chinese government estimates that as many as 4.9 million homes have been destroyed. One county is reporting that more than 80 percent of buildings have been destroyed. Parents lost their only child; Children lost their parents; many people lost everything and become homeless. They need help to rebuild their lives!
