He is set to become the youngest British male Olympian but Tom Daley is keeping his cool. Thomas Daley is Britain's diving prodigy, he's qualified for the Olympics, he'll be the youngest British male to compete and he's only thirteen years old. He and his partner, Blake Aldridge, took the bronze in the synchronised 10 metre platform on Friday (February 22). Daley then moved on to guarantee his place at the Games in August by finishing seventh in the individual event at the Diving World Cup two days later. His place in the Olympics rested on his final dive which Daley admits made for a daunting walk up to the springboard. "Going up there I was really nervous, going into the last dive. It was either make or break time really, I could either make it or I couldn't and it was, I was so nervous stood there for that dive it was the thing that I got four 10's on it, it's just absolutely phenomenal," he said. He will turn fourteen in three months and currently juggles his training with school and homework but he says the sacrifices were worth it for the fun of competative diving. He does not plan to push himself too far just yet, his Olympic gold hopes are focused on the London 2012 Olympics when he believes he will be at the peak of his training, this Olympic chance is a bonus.
