The Rafah Border Crisis Leads To Sharp Decline In Kassam Rocket Attacks
 Source: Infolive.tv
Since the blockade was imposed on the Gaza Strip and the Rafah border was breached, residents of Sderot and the western Negev are enjoying days free of Kassam rocket attacks on their communities.
Why are there less kassam rocket attacks?
Defense establishment statistics show a sharp decrease in the Kassam rocket fire, noting that from january 17 until january 23, a total of 105 rockets were fired at southern Israel. The day  the Rafah border crossing was breached only one rocket was fired. Since then and up until the present day, a total of two rockets were fired.
Israeli defense officials believe the decrease is mainly because the terror groups in Gaza are currently involved in events at the Rafah border and the southern region. Some leave the strip to replenish their stockpiles of weapons in Egypt and others, have set out for the Sinai and plan to cross into Israel via the Egyptian border and launch attacks.
Those close to Defense Minister Ehud Barak claim the current decrease in rocket fire is mainly due to the restrictions Barak imposed on the Gaza strip. Others claim there is no real explanation for the situation, but state that it proves that terror ogranizations operating in Gaza, dictate when and where to fire the rockets.01/29/08
