2007 BILLABONG PRO JEFFREYS BAY DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS
Duration: 3:19Source: YouTube
Surfing world number five JOEL PARKINSON (Coolangatta, AUS) has steamrolled into round four of the Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay in South Africa. In a day of long rides, shark sightings and high-end surfing, the Supertubes point break served up picture perfect 2m waves for the world tour surfing event. 25-year-old PARKINSON overcame a bout of serious food poisoning to demolish replacement surfer TRENT MUNRO (Scotts Head, AUS) in a one sided affair. Spotting a great white shark wasn't enough to throw powerful Aussie MICHAEL LOWE (Wollongong, NSW) off balance in round two, winning comfortably over compatriot PHILLIP MACDONALD (Cronulla, NSW). LOWE was leading the heat at the halfway mark when he caught sight of a huge shark in on oncoming wave. Visibly spooked by the close encounter he paddled toward the rocks and missed what would have been the best set wave of the heat.
