Sevilla coach Juande Ramo was released from hospital on Thursday (March 1, 2007) morning after spending the night under medical observation, following an incident in the Betis stadium of Seville where he was hit by a plastic bottle thrown from the crowd after his side scored a goal. "I feel much better. Fortunately all the scans and medical tests were negative. They tested me last night and this morning again and everything was negative, that's why I am being released, I feel very good," Ramo told reporters before leaving the hospital. Ramos had been carried off the pitch unconscious on a stretcher shortly after Sevilla had taken the lead 1-0 on aggregate when striker Frederic Kanoute fired home 12 minutes into the second half. According to medical staff, Ramos-- who used to manage Betis-- regained consciousness as he was put into an ambulance. The match was immediately called off. "They hit me on the back and I really don't remember what happened after that. I only know what happen because I've seen it on Television," he said. The incident has been described as shameful Spanish soccer authorities and people on the streets of Seville. "It is an authentic shame and it is the reflect of what we are seeing in our society. This is not football," said Pilar Zamora as she walked by the Betis stadium in Sevilla on Thursday morning.
