Mariah's new big album
 Source: Mediascrape
Mariah Carey looks certain to debut at No. 1 on next week's U.S. pop album chart, based on massive first-day sales from a survey of music retailers. Early sales numbers show that "E=MC2," Carey's follow-up to her 2005 smash "The Emancipation of Mimi," sold 154,000 units on Tuesday (April 15, 2008). That's more than five times the first-day haul for the current Billboard 200 champ, Leona Lewis' "Spirit," which ended up selling almost 205,000 copies in the week ended April 13. Britney Spears is looking to regain her one-time stellar shape. The online site TMZ.com reports the singer has been working out for up to three times a day and has given up her love of fast food. Meanwhile, a Los Angeles judge extended again a restraining order against the singer's former self-styled manager Sam Lufti until July 31. The ruling means that Lutfi remains barred from coming within 250 yards of Britney or her property. Barbra Streisand is in a giving mood. The singer has donated 5 million dollars (USD) to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for a women's heart education and research program. It's now up to a judge to decide the copyright case involving author J.K. Rowling and a fan who plans to publish "The Harry Potter Lexicon," a 400-page reference book. A decision is expected to take several weeks. John Russell, Reuters
