It takes passion, dedication, will-power, and most importantly, strong legs. 26.2 miles is a bit of a drive to some, but what about jogging that distance? That's what over 400 people did today at the ING Tressle Valley Marathon. Runners from 19 different states including Alaska and 3 Canadian provinces laced up for the big race that started early this morning. Over 150 volunteers helped make everything possible along with 22 sponsors. The race had many first time runners including Bradley Pederson who has been looking forward to this event for a long time. (Bradley Pederson, 1st Time Runner) I've been running about 30-50 miles a week in anticipation for this. I looked up a year ago and I looked and said I wanted to run my first marathon at home. Just becasue I saw this one when I was in high school and I said I want to run that sometime so first time running I figured let's go home and run the first one here. VO CONTINUES Another first time runner Christopher Snell, who decided to run the event last mintue yesterday afternoon, thought the hardest part was handling the cold and windy weather. TAKE VTR:FULL (Christopher Snell, 1st Time Runer) The weather it was horrible, the wind was horrible. It was cold but once you get running you warm up and the wind once it gets to your back it's ok but the first half of the whole marathon was horrible with the wind in your face. This year the record for a male and female individual marathon were both broken. The male was last year champion Greg Worley from the Minot Air Force Base. He broke the record he set last year. And Meg Grindall orignally from Minot now living in Minnesota broke the record for fastest female.
