University of Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long spoke at a news conference yesterday in New York after his selection by the Miami Dolphins with the first overall pick in the 2008 National Football League draft. The 6-foot-7, 313-pound native of Lampeer, Michigan, became the first offensive tackle taken with the draft's No. 1 pick since 1997, when the St. Louis Rams chose Orlando Pace. Long, a two-time Big Ten Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year, signed a five-year deal worth about $30 million in guaranteed money, according to ESPN.
