China's Olympic air security
 Source: MediaScrape
With less than three weeks to go until the start of the Olympic Games, security in China has become of paramount importance. Airports in Beijing, Shanghai and other designated cities have implemented new checks at the entrances to the buildings. People will under go body searches and baggage checks before they get inside terminals. Authorities at Beijing Capital Airport have advised people who come to greet or see passengers off not to enter the terminals to save time. But said they did not anticipate the new checks would cause too much disruption to passengers. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) MEMBER OF STAFF AT BEIJING CAPITAL AIRPORT, SAYING: "At Beijing Capital Airport, our staff, commodities and equipment, and forecasting, are all prepared for the new special checks, so we have faith when we assure passengers they will be able to get their flights out of the airport" The new checks are just one in a series of sweeping steps to secure the Games against terror attacks. These include the deployment of a 100,000-strong anti-terrorism force. China believes terrorism remains the greatest threat to the Games, and says it has cracked a number of domestic terror plots to kidnap athletes and carry out suicide attacks. Penny Tweedie, Reuters.
