Iberville man faces child rape charges

A man at a church in Iberville Parish has admitted to having a relationship with a teenage girl. Lawrence Mercadel turned himself in Monday night in St. Gabriel after police failed to catch him during a high-speed chase through Baton Rouge. He now faces 50 counts of child rape.
