The annual Jazz Festival kicked off this morning at andamp;lt;a href=andamp;quot;http://www.kxnet.com/t/minot-state-universityandamp;quot; class=andamp;quot;kxInlineLinkandamp;quot;andamp;gt;Minot State Universityandamp;lt;/aandamp;gt;'s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. A dozen different bands from area high schools and the college gathered to play and accent notable pieces of music and get instruction from a couple of visiting musicians. Organizers say it gives students a great opportunity to reach out and fine tune their skills... Improvisation is creating your own melody line and saying it to the audience.andamp;quot; The festival wraps up tonight with a concert at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall at Minot State University. The performances gets underway at 7pm.
