On the Green - Riverwood
 Source: ClipSyndicate
It sits along the banks of the Missouri River cut out of massive amounts of trees you more than likely will spend some time in during your round. It is Riverwood Golf Course in Bismarck and it is the site of this week's 'On the Green' with Perry Olson (Perry Olson - KX News) If you are a typical golfer...not great...not horrible...Riverwood is a test that proves to be a treat. Lined with trees...keeping the ball in play is vital to scoring low at the public course in Bismarck. (Ray Helphrey, Manager - Riverwood Golf Course) You have to take your medicine. If your first shot is into the trees, you have to make sure your next shot is out of it. Take your bogey and go to the next hole and improve there. Looking at the course you can see all the trouble the trees bring into play but over the years, it has actually gotten less crowded. (Ray) Without trying to lose some of the character of the course, we have eliminated some of the trees. We are careful when we do that so that we don't make the course too easy. We moved the trees to help the fairways grow. Golfweek ranked Riverwood number five in the state so you know you are on one of the best layouts North Dakota has to offer it starts out somewhat tame...but get ready, because it finishes with bite. (Ray) On the front nine there are a few holes that are more open...you are not going to find that on the back nine. There is a par 3 on the back that is really long too and that adds more strokes to the back. Like each week we have two free rounds to give away. This week's winner is Matt Evans of Stanley. Congratulations...and make sure you make a trip to Riverwood this year. On the Green, I'm Perry Olson.
