The Boston Bruins stared over the edge of the abyss, and found a way to fight back the Montreal Canadiens to escape elimination, forcing a Game 7 that no one expected. The Bruins came out fighting, putting the puck on Carey Price, but it was the Canadiens who found the back of the net first. The start of the second period saw the Bruins come out strong again, and they were rewarded with a highlight reel goal from Phil Kessel, who dangled around the Canadiens defense before beating Price. The Canadiens shrugged off the goal, and took a lead six minutes later when Tomas Plekanec beat Tim Thomas on a breakaway. The third period was like an entirely new game, with see-saw action. The Bruins evened the score 3 minutes in, but the Canadiens took it back just seven minutes later. The Bruins tied it again, then took their first lead of the game, only to see it erased eleven seconds later. The up and down, joy to heartbreak was eventually resolved by Marco Sturm, who put the B's ahead for good with 2:37 left in the game. Though the Canadiens pulled Price for the extra man, they couldn't best Thomas again. The Bruins won, evening the series at 3 games each.
