McCain focuses on November
 Source: PANDORA.TV
While Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue battling out for the Democratic nomination, the presumptive Republican nominee-- John McCain-- is already focused on Novembers general election. The Arizona Senator is traveling around the country as part of what hes calling his "Its Time for Action Tour,"-- reaching out to residents in economically depressed areas such as the lower 9th Ward in New Orleans.....Youngstown, Ohio-- ....and Selma, Alabama. SOUNDBITE: John McCain, presidential candidate, saying (English): "There must be no forgotten places in America, whether they have been ignored for long years by the sins of indifference and injustice." McCain has benefited greatly by having wrapped up his partys nomination almost two months ago. Many polls show him running even -or slightly ahead-- of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in head-to-head contests....despite the slowing U.S. economy, and McCain strong support of the unpopular war in Iraq. The Heritage Foundations Brian Darling. SOUNDBITE: Brian Darling, research fellow, the Heritage Foundation, saying (English): "The big winner in the Pennsylvania primary clearly was John McCain because John McCain got to sit out this primary -- define himslef and not be subject of all the barbs of Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama because Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been beating each other up. Theyve been hurting each other." But the general election is still more than half a year away and supporters of John McCain acknowledge this years presidential election will be a tight contest -- no matter who winds up being the Democratic nominee. SOUNDBITE: Brian Darling, research fellow, the Heritage Foundation, saying (English): "Republicans are riding high right now. But with President Bushs record low approval ratings and the fact that its very difficult for an incumbent party to hold the White House, its gonna be a tough fight for Republicans. So Republicans should really take note and not be too confident by the fact that they see these poll numbers that have John McCain ahead in a head-to-head battle with Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton." In the meantime, John McCain continues a frantic pace of fundraising and campaigning...knowing full well -- as a former Navy man-- this is just the calm before what is likely to be a very nasty storm.
