A major fire broke out in a slum area in the Indian capital New Delhi in the morning hours of January 06th killing at least seven people and leaving several others injured. The fire broke out near Lahori Jeth in north Delhi. It required close to 25 fire tenders to douse the flames, which enveloped the slum very quickly as inflammable plastic sheets were used by the slum dwellers to protect themselves from chilling wind.
