Local union leaders endorsed a tentative agreement between General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers that requires GM to pay out at least $35 billion for retiree health care and offers an unprecedented number of promises for future work at U.S. plants. The dollar fell to a record low against the euro for the seventh consecutive session as trading came to a close Friday. The greenback has been sliding since the Fed cut interest rates by a larger-than-expected half percentage point. Since then, a week of mostly disappointing U.S. economic data have stoked expectations that another rate cut could follow. Stocks dipped a bit on the last trading day of the third quarter, with Wall Street relieved about solid readings on the economy but cautious of October's corporate earnings reports. Let's see what the markets open at, on the first day of October... The Dow begins the day down, 17.31 or point 12%. The Nasdaq, is down as well, 8.09 or point 30%.
