Raw video,March 22/08:Demolition workers tried to pull down the gutted 10-story hospital in February after cutting several support beams, but their cables snapped. Today's implosion was originally supposed to happen at 7 a.m. It was postponed because forecasts of low morning clouds raised concerns about poor visibility. The hospital closed its doors in 2000 and had been thoroughly gutted. A former 350,000-square-foot complex, St. Francis Central is the biggest structure to be demolished by the city-county Sports and Exhibition Authority to make way for a 18,500-seat venue that will replace Mellon Arena. A 500-car parking garage is planned for where the hospital used to stand. The Penguins plan to open the new arena in time for the 2010-11 season. $12 Parking to see this too...allgedly.
