IFOH advises governments to keep head cool and emphasize on other paradigms. About IFOH A major objective of the Forum is to work towards 'humanising' the workplace, which means valuing people and their potential for creativity and growth, so that both the organization and the individuals who represent its most valuable resource can benefit. The Forum had its origins in the 1960's when five doctors met as an occupational mental health discussion group and went on to produce a bi-monthly publication on work and stress. From its initial concern with the mental welfare of individuals in the workplace, the group has broadened its aims to examine the fabric and effects of that environment. As its membership has broadened, the Forum has gained the expertise to take into account the interplay of a wide range of factors including social, psychological, managerial, industrial relations and economic influences. The Forum also provide an informal network of professionals who can offer specialist knowledge and collaboration in the project work, in addition to constructive criticism, support and guidance. Each academic year, the Forum offers an International Conference, evening lectures, daytime seminars, an annual dinner, an annual general meeting and regular newsletters. Issues tackled by the Forum in recent years include downsizing and delaying, relationships between organizations and the surrounding community, the building and accountability of teams, changing attitudes in the professions and organizational ill health in the voluntary sector. The Forum is sharing with its International Network a commitment to development and maintenance of the psycho-social health both of organizations and the individuals within them. A workgroup of experts with IFOH is defining the standards to which a company or organization has to adapt to get an IFOH green label. In this label the company's organizational health and consumer value is secured.
