Who was where at the time Mindy Morgenstern was murdered? That was the question today for witnesses in the murder trial against Moe Gibbs in Minot. Shaun Sipma has the latest from the Ward County Courthouse... This morning prosecution called Mindy's Morgenstern's then boyfriend Jordan Ranum to the stand. Ranum testified he was with Mindy in her apartment watching a movie the night before she was murdered. He said that he was at home the next day on their family farm 5 miles north of Valley City working in the field. (Brad Cruff, Barnes County State's Attorney) How far is that field from your farm? (Jordan Ranum, Morgenstern's Boyfriend) Seven miles north and mile or two east. Ranum's father, Bruce, also testified that he saw Jordan at around 1:30 on September 13th in the field as he was cutting Canadian thistle nearby. Later in the morning Christina Judd, Gibbs' former wife was called to the stand. Barnes County State's Attorney Brad Cruff asked Judd about the text message that she sent to Moe that afternoon asking for something to drink. (Brad Cruff, Barnes County State's Attorney) Are you sure you sent that message at 12:33? (Christina Judd, Gibbs Former Wife) No. (Jeff Bredahl, Defense Attorney) You told law enforcement that trying to think that you actually sent text at 12:33. Isn't that correct? (Judd) Yes. Judd also testified that Moe had received the cuts on his hand and wrist on the Monday or Tuesday before Mindy was murdered. In the afternoon Bureau of Criminal Investigation Agent Dale Maixner took the stand. Prosecution questioned Maixner about the interview with Gibbs when he was brought in for questioning and played parts of it for the jury. Mindy scratched the person, this happened Thursday, and the other Friday. Evidence that directly conflicts with Christina's testimony about when she was told Moe got the scratches. In that interview Gibbs repeatedly denied any involvement with Mindy's murder even after investigators told him about the repercussion of finding his DNA at the scene. If I did I would take responsibility for it. I didn't do it. It was after that interview where Moe was arrested. The trial was adjourned for the day and prosecution is expected to call their final witnesses tomorrow when the trial resumes at the Ward County Courthouse. Shaun Sipma, KX News.
