North Dakota's third mountain lion season has ended, but the debate over it continues. Game and Fish officials have heard from groups who don't want mountain lions killed.. and ranchers who want to control them. Wildlife Division Chief Randy Kreil says the department has had what he would call hate mail from both sides. The season ended in November in the western part of the state, after the quota of five cougars killed was met. One lion was killed in the rest of the state, which made up the other zone. That season ended yesterday. The state Game and Fish Department reports 103 mountain lion sightings in the state last year.
