At least 44 people, mostly school children, were killed after their bus fell into the Narmada Canal in Bodeli near Vadodara at around 6:30 am on April 16. Around 60 school children were in the bus belonging to the Gujarat State Corporation. At least 20 divers have been engaged in rescue operations, and have so far managed to save four children.
