Nigerian Governor on development
The interactive session was organised to intimate the indigenes of policies and programmes of his administration, and to convince them why they must invest in their own state. The governor painted a gloomy and appalling picture of the state’s social, economic, and political development before his administration came on board, but was quick to add that something new is happening. Soundbite:Governor Gbenga Daniel Speaking(ENGLISH): “We were able to successfully repackage Ogun state as a safe haven for investment, as a crime free environment in relative terms, and as an emerging market for the international investment community to look at,am pleased to tell you that this have paid a lot of dividend.” Earlier in the welcome address, The Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service with the collaboration of those indigenes believed to be about 40% living outside the State to come home and invest in order to to show up the internally generated revenue. Soundbite:Chairman,State Internal Revenue Service, Morenike Babmington Asahye Speaking(ENGLISH): “People of Ogun state extraction have been very instrumental in developing other states, it is now time for us to come home and contribute towards the development of our own. The essence of organising the event is to demonstrate that Ogun State needs the collaboration and understanding of its people.” The third edition of the state’s economic summit coming up next week made to believe will be another time for the people of the state to chart a new course for the socio economic development of Ogun state.
