Swan's Japanese Horror Reviews 9: Audition
Duration: 6:00Source: YouTube
Review of Takashi Miike's 1999 masterpiece, Audition (オーディション). To me, this is how cinema should be made, this is a fine example of Japanese horror going beyond ghosts and settling into something that might be far too real. This isn't conventional J-horror at all, in fact it's a fairly slow moving film, but the pay-off at the end is fantastic and this is my favorite movie. All in all, I think it's one film that viewers need to experience. Also, this episode now features me giving a score for each film I review (out of 1-10 scale, 10 being my fave film ever). I also give a seperate score for the DVD, taking into account the presentation and extra features provided. Next episode will probably be a film on the other end of the spectrum, which means I'll probably review a film that I think is garbage. What will it be? Tune in next time :)
