- After returning from England, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller moved into an apartment in East New York. Marilyn began taking on the role of housewife and dreamed of starting her own family.
- Arthur Miller had once said that children felt her love instantly. However, endless miscarriages destroyed her confidence and slowly took a toll on Marilyn. Her inability to have a family made her feel like a failure.
- Feeling underachieved with her family life; Marilyn Monroe went back to work and began filming the comedy, Some Like It Hot, once again as the dumb blonde.
- Although her performance was described to have new sparkle, director Billy Wilder commented on the extreme difficulty it took to complete the film due to Marilyn's need for endless retakes.
