Marco Esposito explains in his own words what a blog is. The clip was shot in Rome on February 23rd 2006. - In Italian: "Un blog è tutto quello che vuoi. Se vuoi fare un diario su internet, sarà il tuo diario personale. Se vuoi fare una pagina di contro-informazione, sarà una pagina di controinformazione. Se vuoi raccontare te stesso, avrai la possibilità di raccontare te stesso. Lo potrai fare in vari modi. Lo potrai fare parlando, quindi scambiando opinioni con i visitatori del tuo blog. Lo potrai fare mettendo file audio e file video. Questo ti darà la possibilità, fino a qualche tempo fa inesistente, di comunicare quello che pensi e quello che provi potenzialmente a tutto il mondo tramite internet. Oltre tutto questo apre grandi possibilità sia d'informazione sia d'interattività perchè puoi permetterti di mettere in contatto la gente con le fonti dirette d'informazioni. Tramite un link, puoi mettere in contatto il semplice utente con la notizia che tu vuoi divulgare. Il bello del blog è proprio questo. Che è semplicissimo da usare. Chiunque, con l'ausilio di una piattoforma tipo Il Cannocchiale, tipo Splinder, in pochi minuti può mettere su il suo blog. Perchè queste piattoforme danno gli ausili che servono. E basta scrivere il tuo post e mandarlo online. I vantaggi dei blog sono tanti. Il primo è la semplicità d'uso. La seconda cosa è che ti permette di mettere sia file di testo, audio e video. Quindi puoi fare un pò quello che vuoi. E poi, sopratutto, sei libero. Puoi esprimere quello che vuoi perchè non hai un capo, non hai nessuna struttura alle spalle che t'impone di tenere una linea editoriale. Una linea editoriale la fai te quindi sei completamente libero, senza nessun tipo di pressione. Sono già una fonte d'informazione alternativa. Questo perchè? Perchè sta venendo meno la fiducia della grande massa, della popolazione nei confronti dei grandi media, e dei giornalisti, sopratutto. Che diciamo, sono una categoria un po pigra e troppo continua con il potere. Almeno così viene vista. Quindi che succede, che la fiducia non c'è più, e la gente va a cercare su internet i propri blog di riferimento che diventano delle fonti d'informazioni alternative, veramente alternative. E la fiducia, piano piano, andrà a ripagare il blog del lavoro che stanno facendo e quindi si creeranno veramente nuovi fonti d'informazioni in cui la gente crederà." In English: "A blog can be anything you want. If you want to have a diary on the internet, then it will become your personal diary. If you want to make a page of counter information, it will be a counter-information page. If you want to write about yourself, then it will be a place where you can tell your personal story. You can do it in many ways. You can do it by talking, by exchanging opinions with visitors to your blog. You can do it by putting audio or video files. This will give you the chance, previously non-existent, to communicate what you are thinking and feeling to practically the entire world through the internet. This also allows great possibilities for information and interactivity because you can allow users to have a direct contact with the original sources of information. Through a link, you can connect a user to the information you are spreading. That's the beautiful thing about blogs. It's so easy to use. Anyone, with the help of a platform such as Il Cannocchiale, or Splinder, can have a blog set up in no time. These platforms give you the help you need. All you need to do is write your post, and send it online. There are many advantages to blogs. The first one is its semplicity. The second one is that it allows you to put up text, audio and video files. Basically, you can do what you want. But most of all, you're free. You can express what you want because there's no boss, no institution standing behind you checking you keep with editorial policies. You make the editorial policies so you're completely free, there's no pressure. They are already an alternative source of information. Why? Because the masses are losing faith in the big media, in journalists especially. Let's say, as a group, they're a little lazy and work side by side with who is in power. Or at least, that's how they're looked upon. So this is what happens, when there is no more trust, people go looking for blogs of reference which become alternative sources of information, truly alternative. Slowly but surely, trust will compensate a blog's work so real sources of alternative information will be created in which people will believe in."
