ATI Canada - Vine Bails Plastic Grinding
Duration: 1:28Source: YouTube
Organic Recycling During the season when plant material is being removed from the green houses, it is transported to a recycling facility. When dumped on our concrete pad a skid steer loader picks up the plant material (bail) and drops it into a 150-hp shredtech grinder. This grinder shreds the material into pieces 6 to 12 inches long. The material consists of the organic plant material, metal clips and string used for crop support. After this process the material is transported by conveyor belts into a secondary grinder where the plant material is chopped into smaller inch-by-inch pieces. The vines along with the chopped up inorganic material are then transported by conveyor belts to a specialized trommel screen manufactured by ATI. When the plant material is in the trommel screen the organic material falls through the screen. The inorganic material falls out the back and is put into a bin for transportation to the landfill (less than 2% of original weight).
