Joseph Fielding Smith, Sr. (November 13, 1838 -- November 19, 1918) was the sixth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He was the last president of the LDS Church to have personally known the founder of the Mormon faith, Joseph Smith, Jr., who was the brother of his father Hyrum Smith. In 1917, he gave this testimony: "Please remember me kindly to all your people and assure them that I am still firm in the faith, and there is nothing in the world as evident than the performance of my duties as s servant in the cause of truth. May the Lord bless you and your family and all who cooperate with you for the truth's sake. I am most sincerely your brother."
