c-y-f-d is projecting to lose somewhere around 15 million dollars in funding from the state in this fiscal year. executive director dorian dodson spoke with the media this morning about how this could affect services. she says employee furloughs, reductions in staff, and hiring freezes are all on the table. — special programs and c-y-f-d’s foster parent service, for example...could be cut back as well. -- officials are trying to stay positive however. they say that they're working extra hard, and looking into other sources of funding. 13:41 "we have a motto in this department, that's called no stone un turned which means that every single possible grant opportunity and there are many federal funds coming down, and our deputy secretary was recently instrumental in helping to get a huge grant from the s-a-m-s-a administration" officials also point out: these budget cuts are minute thumbnail 12:05 pm coming at the wrong time. because due to our weak economy right now, they have seen an increase in families seeking their help and support. and they say it's some of the most severe cases. no word just yet on when or exactly how much money will be cut from the budget, or what programs, services, and employees will be effect.
