APD’s main priority for the event is keeping you safe. austin reed joins us live from balloon fiesta park to explain some of the ways they plan to do that in our top story. austin? the department has many new measures planned-- to make this year's event one of the safest ever. one new thing-- this mobile watch tower to look out for any suspicious activity. it was used at the state fair-- but this is the first trip to the fiesta. more cops will be on patrol this year-- as well. the department will have many of those officers stationed at a number of hotels and motels across the city. they also plan to use "bait" cars equipped with g- p-s systems-- to help catch car thieves. "i think it will make a difference, because there is thefts and what not" "very good the cops are doing something about it" pilots will also have g-p-s systems in their cocit. hoping to cut down on crashes. because of these increased security measures this year, a-p-d reminds you to make sure you give yourself extra time to arrive.
