Police say they are analyzing video of a robbery from inside a Walgreens store after a suspect chase left the suspect dead. Police were called to the Walgreens at the intersection of Coors and Sequoia with reports of a robbery. The suspect took off with some items, ran across Coors to a storage company—and was then shot by Albuquerque police. The suspect died from a gunshot wound to the chest area. Police say the suspect was not armed, but came after the officer while trying to pull something to his belt. The whole shooting happened near a daycare, which was placed on lockdown. Parent Melissa Dominguez said she was, "Scared, shocked, nervous, a little bit of everything. I’ve got a one year old across the street, so very shooken up." All of the children were okay, as were officers. At least one officer was placed on standard paid leave. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the store to see if the suspect has hit other stores in Albuquerque. APD spokesman John Walsh said Thursday, "This individual matches a description of a multitude of armed robberies that occurred in the Albuquerque vicinity to alike type businesses involved in pharmaceuticals." Police aren't saying what the suspect stole from the Walgreen's. They hope to release the man's name on Friday. This is the second police shooting at the Walgreens in less than three years. Edward Patterson is serving time for shooting Albuquerque Police Officer Marcus Moya in the Walgreens parking lot in 2006. Officer Moya was investigating break-ins at some homes on the West side when he saw Patterson, who matched a description of the suspect. Patterson shot Moya twice. Moya survived the shooting.
