Smart-aleck young private eye Belinda Prentice (Adele Mara) has her work cut out for her when her very first client turns up dead. Faced with a number of different suspects, Belinda relies on her sharp intellect to gather the clues she needs. But while she's attempting to establish herself as a credible P.I., Belinda's father, Police Inspector Prentice (Robert Armstrong), tries to pressure her to abandon this path and find a nice man to marry.
