Two Los Angeles police detectives, Cal (Steve Cochran) and Jack (Howard Duff), find themselves in too deep when they come across a large sum of stolen money, and Cal decides to pocket a third of it to keep up with his girlfriend's (Ida Lupino) spending habits. While family man Jack pleads with Cal to come clean, one of the robbers who had originally stolen the money attempts to blackmail both detectives in this noir crime drama.
