The Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009, the season-ending event of the 2009 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season, take place October 27-November 1, 2009, at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha, Qatar. The Top 8 singles players and Top 4 doubles teams of the 2009 WTA Tour are invited to compete based on results throughout the 2009 season.
Single players: Dinara Safina, 2Serena Williams, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Caroline Wozniacki, Elena Dementieva, Victoria Azarenka, Venus Williams.
Doubles teams: Black/Huber, Williams/V. Williams, Llagostera/Martinez, Stosur/Stubbs.
Prize money is $4.55 million.
