The LA Phil, short for Los Angeles Philharmonic, is Los Angeles' symphony orchestra and Southern California's leading performing arts institution. It was founded in 1919 by William Andrews Clark, Jr., a multi-millionaire and amateur musician. The regular concert season is October-June at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the summer season is July-September at the Hollywood Bowl. The orchestra presents classical music, jazz, world music, organ recitals, Baroque concerts, holiday programs, and much more.
