Kiefer Sutherland has proven throughout the decades that he is a force to be reckoned with and no matter what professional or personal obstacles come his way, he is here to stay. Son of actor Donald Sutherland, Kiefer was born in London, England and grew up in Canada.
His first US debut was in Stand By Me, sparking over 70 movies from 1986 to 2008. Some top movies include, The Lost Boys, Young Guns, Flatliners, and A Few Good Men. Since 2001, Kiefer Sutherland has mostly concentrated on his role as Jack Bauer in the popular television show 24. With numerous nominations for both Emmy and Golden Globe awards, Kiefer has taken home a handful of wins for his portrayal as Jack Bauer. Playing the ultimate hero, Kiefer Sutherland has perfected the art of saving the day.
Unfortunately, Kiefer Sutherland has not had the same luck in his personal life. Struggling with drugs and alcohol throughout his career, Kiefer has most recently added a DUI Arrest to his rap sheet culminating in a 48 day stint in jail. His drug use coupled with a hot temper has also gotten him in trouble with the law, though Sutherland has scraped by with public apologies, keeping him away from major prison time.
24 has mildly suffered the consequences of Kiefer Sutherland's off-set behavior with rumors of re-written scripts to accommodate injuries and jail time. But, as soon as Kiefer Sutherland jumps into the role of Jack Bauer it is hard to hold much against him, as it is near impossible not to believe that Bauer is the ultimate savior for us all. Kiefer may come up short in his personal life but makes up for it in 24.
